Anyway, this game again saw me win material very quickly, this time because of an unwise move of the f-pawn. It is ironic that in the hands of juniors, the ultra-drawish Petrov Defence often leads to a tactical bomb very early on. Witness a case in point:
Although it is slightly unwise to overlook a checkmate in one, and slightly botch the eventual mate when I promoted, on the whole my conversion was pretty ruthless here - perhaps it's not stylistically usual for me to play 11. Qxf8+, but it's a fun-killing move that black was just asking for by playing the Petrov. A Rook and two pawns up, the rest of the game held no surprises.
